Phrixgnathus haasti Syntype

by Te Papa Te Papa
Description
Because the depth of field shrinks to fractions of millimeters at high magnifications, small specimens are imaged by taking multiple shots from top to bottom (ideally at intervals of half the depth of field), then using a special processing software that combines the areas in focus of each image, creating a composite that shows the specimen entirely in focus.
