| Description | This black and white photograph by Haruhiko Sameshima was taken in 1980. Along with Portsmouth Motors Ltd, another photograph by Sameshima also in Te Papa's collection, Coolstore belongs to what could be called the Symmetrical Buildings Series - photographs of industrial buildings taken with a 4 x 5 Linhof camera. The coolstore in this photograph had been recently constructed, and it was located in the same industrial area in Anderson's Bay, Dunedin as the petrol pumps in Portsmouth Motors Ltd. Black and white photograph, gelatin silver print. Purchased 2001 with New Zealand Lottery Grands Board funds. |
