| Description | A conical mask of tapa over a light cane framework, made as a festival mask in Mangaia in the Cook Islands. A pole extending above the tip of the cone is decorated with fibres and feathers. Lines around the eyes indicate lashes and lines above the mouth may indicate a moustache. Cane, tapa, fibre, feathers. Purchased at the New Zealand International Exhibition Christchurch, 1906-1907. |
